What do you eat throughout the whole day? meals, snacks e.t.c?

im recovering from a slight eating disorder and everything i eat i think is too much and i want to know what you typically eat in a day;

a typical day for me would be;

2 egg whites in wholemeal pitta bread

(i feel i eat too much but make myself)

if i snack i have berrries of some sort,

strawberries, blueberries e.t.c

lunch; either wholemeal sandwhich with lean meat,

tuna salad/chicken salad - fairly large too fill me

dinner could be anything from stir frys, to pasta/large salads/fish e.t.c always chosing wholemeal.

i generally wont eat after 7pm.

is this too much? i need to stop obsessing and i am trying to make myself but i just wanted to know what others would eat day to day, and if i am eating too much/too little e.t.c.

thanks everyone

What do you eat throughout the whole day? meals, snacks e.t.c?
I think this is a survey and should be in that section?

That's not too much on the face of it but it all depends on portion size. Pasta for example if very heavy in calories and starches too (which your bodily readily stores as fat, much easier than eating fat in the same way eating blood sausage doesn't proportionally increase your red blood cell count) it's easy to eat too much of it. It seems quite healthy to me though you could do with eating something that supplies some healthy fats. Perhaps less pasta and add some linseeds to your salad.

I mostly live off home-made hummus with added ingredients on pita bread or chopped vegetables. Mmm. Hummus. I've been losing weight on it for a while. Before that I lived on beer and cheese burgers which turned me into a fat bastard.

EDIT: Oh boohoo to the person who thumbs-downed me. I've actually studied nutritional science what do you know.

EDIT 2: (For the moron who thumbs-downed me) In the 1950s a researcher called Alan Kekwick fed hospitalised patients 1000 calories a day. Some only protein, some only fat, some only carbs. Both protein and fat fed patients lost weight, only the carb fed patients gained weight. Not all calories are equal same as not all carbs and fats are equal. Nobody disputes the accuracy of this research it's a documented fact.

It's easy to find a million sources to cite as a reference to support any position on diet but this is a clinically controlled study in as simple as form as possible back before there was a monetary incentive to distort the result. Even if you take into account the fat eating group would have been losing muscle due to protein loss, why did the carb group GAIN weight since they would also be losing muscle? I'm so sick of people who can't do their own homework. This is not saying carbs are bad, without them you will suffer damage to your body and will eventually die (albeit slower than someone who ate no protein or no fat) It's saying that you should be careful how much of your diet they constitute.
Reply:I obsess too, and I can tell you that that is NOT too much. If it keeps you full, it's enough, but if you're ever hungry, just eat. I'll give you an example of what I eat, since you asked-

Breakfast: Oatmeal with banana and cinnamon, and an apple. Maybe a glass of soymilk if I'm still hungry.

Lunch: A peanut butter sandwich on sprouted flourless whole grain bread. Fruit salad and plain yogurt on the side.

Snack: Berries and maybe a little part skim cheese. Or an apple and peanut butter (natural of course). Or a pear and a handful of almonds. Basically just a fruit and a protein source.

Dinner: Usually a salad with chicken and sliced egg. Or I'll have some fish, veggies, and brown rice. Whatever sounds good.

Hope I helped!
Reply:During the week I eat oatmeal for breakfast, two hrs. later I have a fruit. Lunch is light, perhaps a burger, or a salad. Two hrs. later more fruit. I eat until full at supper, and nothing after 6. I don't drink pop. Coffee is my addiction, and I drink a lot of water.
Reply:you're eating fine- usually i have cereal in the morning, fruit %26amp; cheese midmorning, salad %26amp; sandwich for lunch, soup mid-afternoon, pasta %26amp; meat for dinner, popcorn evening, milk throughout the day maybe a bite or two of something sweet.

and im in very good shape- i might add that i am active everyday in some way.
Reply:Eat small portions every two hours. By doing this you never become overfull and you stay comfortable but not stuffed..

If you are bulimic, I can understand cutting out egg yolks, but if you are anorexic, you need to eat them for the protein.

Make and eat 1/2 a sandwich instead of a full size one.

The dinner meals sound excellent but keep the portions under control.

Taking a multi-vitamin would be wise to replace the vitamins you are missing.

Good Luck.
Reply:Food... I trust:)

How do you tell the difference between a permutation and a combination?

For example, if i had say 31 students in my class and i wanted to sort them into different groups and i wanted to know how many I could sort them into would that be a permutation?

Or would it be something like the different ways 5 of those students could be chosen to put problems a, b, c, d, and e on the board?

Can you explain why each would be that way in both these examples?

How do you tell the difference between a permutation and a combination?
Permutation = in how many ways can you arrange a group of objects. For example the permutations of a, b, c are:

a-b-c, a-c-b, b-a-c, b-c-a, c-a-b, c-b-a

Combination = in how many ways can you select a certain un-ordered sub-group from a larger group (e.g. select 3 students from a group of 31). For example, combination of a, b, c in groups of 2:

a%26amp;b, a%26amp;c, b%26amp;c
Reply:that would be combination

since having 1,2,3,4 is the same as 4,2,3,1. Since the kids are still in the same group, no matter how you rearrange them does not change the fact that they are still in the same group.

Permutation allows 1,2,3,4 and 4,2,3,1 but combination would be to be like 1,2,3,4 and 1,2,3,5
Reply:permutation has 2 du with order......same ppl different order r 2 possibilities

combination has nothng 2 du wit order..............same ppl different order is one possibility

permutation= a*b*c*d*e

combination= a*b*c*d*e/c*d*e
Reply:permutation means selection and arrangements of objects

combination means just selecting
Reply:Permutation = n!/(n-k)!

Combination = n!/k!(n-k)!

where n is d total number and k is the number of divisions

When you make Yorkshire Pudding, do you bake it in one large pan or make individual ones?

I've always made one large pan but noticed recently that almost every recipe I see calls for using sort of a muffin tin or popover tin to make them. I would also welcome any variations on the usual recipe of 1 c flour, 1 c milk, 2 eggs and salt at room temp then pour into a piping hot pan with butter or drippings.

When you make Yorkshire Pudding, do you bake it in one large pan or make individual ones?
i like them both ways and the yorkies in a tin is not an american thing since americans haven't caught on to how delicious they are. And as far as the recipe goes..."If it aint broke...don't fix it"
Reply:It is traditional in England to use one pan. Purists would say that you should cook your prime rib roast on the oven rack with the pan on the rack underneath to catch the drippings and cook the Yorkie in that pan.

The muffin tin is an American thing, it is actually a popovers.

This is a link to Jamie Oliver's huge Yorkshire Pudding. It uses more egg. But be prepared - they are enormous

http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/...

I have used a recipe that adds a cup of Gueyer Cheese, it was tasty but didn't rise as much.

Maybe combine the two would work. I think I'll try that next time.

Good luck
Reply:I find they come out better in a large pan always used to do them in muffin trays but large come out better not so soggy on the bottom

Can I get toxoplasmosis from brief contact with kittens?

I am 7 months pregnant and my niece just brought 2 barn kittens over to my house. I petted the kittens and they sat on my couch and walked around a little bit. They did not pee or poop while here. I washed my hands thoroughly after they left. Is it possible to get the disease from this sort of contact? I am worried b/c they are barncats that have not had any medical care yet. Also, I have never had a cat, so it is very unlikely that I have ever had the disease before.

Can I get toxoplasmosis from brief contact with kittens?
highly unlikely. you get it from being around cats that have it and you have to be in contact with their feces.
Reply:Toxoplasmosis gondii is what you talk about.

Do not clean the litter box. The encysted parasite lives in the feces of the animal. Handling, petting will not have any effect.
Reply:In my opinion, I don't think having contact with the kittens will hurt your baby to be. Just don't come in contact with their poops or pees. I think everything will be fine.
Reply:dont mess with a litter box and you should be fine

99 honda civic, makes a loud screeeech sort of noise when its cold or it seems at night?

i think its the alternator belt but im not sure, how can i tell if it needs to be replaced? theres three belts because i have a/c any ideas on how much im looking at to replace all three belts myself, i live in canada

99 honda civic, makes a loud screeeech sort of noise when its cold or it seems at night?
Sounds like your belt is slipping on the pully (s). Best thing to do is to check all belts for tightness. You can do this by pressing on the belt between two pulleys. It should not easily be pressed more than 1/4 to 1/2 inch. If you can press it down more than 1/2" then it is too loose. You may have a belt tensioner ( a spring-loaded pulley to auto adjust the tension on the alternator belt (which is most likely the belt that is slipping) You can try belt dressing, but your best bet is to replce the belt (s) that are squealing. Any belt that has a glazed appearnace or is shiny should be replaced. Clean the pulleys off with either isopropyl alcohol or soap and water first to remove any residue on the metal. The belts may cost around $20 each.
Reply:Call your local auto parts distributor for prices.
Reply:It's your alternator belt. Does it do it when you have the lights, A/C or other big loads turned on?
Reply:belts are loose...if they are cracked or dry-rotted, replace them...roughly $30 usd per belt....plus labor if you have someone install them...
Reply:does the screeching sound go away after a min or so? if so its the belts. try spraying a little belt dressing on them and if that doesnt help then you just need to replace them. worst case its a pully. good luck! hope that helps.
Reply:Are the belts tight!

Also, your battery could be going bad and your alternator is charging excessively when first started after setting over time.

What kind of electrical wire type and tubing do i need if i want to bury it?

I'm moving my a/c unit from one corner to other corner, so everything has to be buried underground, electrical and a/c tubing. I'm not doing the a/c freon part but only the electrical and just want to know what kind of wire type or gauge and if it needs to be inside some sort of pipes or tubes? thanks.

What kind of electrical wire type and tubing do i need if i want to bury it?
Even Though the answers you got were so so I Hate to tell you.

No ONE Can answer it.

I could tell you what you would need if you lived near me In CA.

But Every City has its own code on depth and wire.

So I would call the City and ask them what they want you to use.

Or better yet tell them, a guy came to your house and said he was gonna use outdoor wire and no pipe. The person will laugh and say no you can do that you need to do this and this and this.

Lets say u run wire under a sidewalk it does not have to be 18inch down but it must be in pipe. Every place has its own laws.

I have been in the field for 20yrs and The codes here in my city are harsh but if I drive 20miles away they are totaly different.

Wish I could have told you your answer but you didnt say where you lived or wat state and what your running the wire for IE. a Outlet/Sub Panel/ 220 line and so on.

Sorry And goodluck
Reply:I don't know where Kos got his Info, But Every state goes by the National Electrical code Some inspectors may not like it ran in UF type cable but it is legal, That fellow had a good idea, drop out of you existing disconnect with a piece of 3/4 in PVC 18" below grade then trench to your new location and stub a piece of 3/4 PVC up, you may or may not need a new disconnect, Code states that the disconnecting means has to be within sight (50 feet) is what they consider insight straight line of view, if you need a new one, just use the original disconnect for a J-box now that it will no longer be needed for a disconnect, If it's still within sight, after you stub up at the new location Use a 3/4 PVC Change over fitting, to be able to change it from PVC to a Liquid tight Carflex which will hook to your unit, As far as your wire sizes, 20amp 12/2 UF, 30amp 10/2 UF, 40amp 8/3 UF, Hope this sheds a lil Light
Reply:at least a 12 gage wire grounded....the gray PVC pipe( at least one inch in dia.) to put the wire through ...all found at home depot and Lowe's
Reply:I would use electrical pvc for the underground portion of the project, with conductors pulled through it. Your trench needs to be at least 18" deep. You did not say how big a unit or the voltage required, so I'm assuming number 10 stranded would sufficent size wire. When you come out of the ground you will have to change over to sealtight to go from your pvc stubup to the unit. Good luck
Reply:You should use 10/3 UF and dont bother with tubing. The UF wire is meant to be burried in ground and last for decades. Only use tubing if there is a chance that the wire might be cut by someone digging in the ground in that area.

How can you find out what crimes a person committed who you know is in prison?

This is a very odd question, but, what sort of crime would a person have to commit to be charged with Burglary, Class C and be serving 9-10 years in prison? It's not me or anything obviously and not a family member of mine, so that's why I don't know the specifics. But in all likelihood, anyone familiar with the law have any idea what someone, in the state of New York, would have to do to end up with a 9-10 year prison sentence for Burglary? I realize that he obviously stole something, but I was wondering if the sentence and the Class C could give clues as to what this individual might have stolen. Thanks for any help you can provide me. Please only respond if you have some knowledge of the law and you can shed light on this matter for me. Thanks again.

How can you find out what crimes a person committed who you know is in prison?
Its not the offense it self that got them that much time in prison. Its the accumulation of their criminal record that got them that much.

Unless someone commits a murder or serious sex crime, all other offenses have maximum sentence guidelines they fall into. Since he got that much time, he had to have had an extensive prior record that scored him out in sentencing to a long stint in the joint.

What you can do, on closed cases, is go to the police agency that investigated the case and pay a small fee and get a copy of the entire report.

Then you can see exactly what occured.
Reply:What a person did and what they were charged with are usually two very different things. The actual charge used for sentencing is typically the result of a plea down, so unless you know the case there is no real way of knowing what the person actually did.

FWIW, burglary typically consists of trespassing and stealing. Can be in a business or residence.

Short of knowing the case intimately, each state has their own book of statutes. You would have to look up the statute number, but it won't tell you what they broke into or what they stole. Perhaps the approximate value of the theft.

I have some antique sort of things i am looking to sell, does anyone know....?

When i was 3 years old, my grandparents were going to build me a dollhouse. They never got around to building it but my grandmother got all the pieces for it. She also got me some miniature teasets. I was wanting to sell them b/c all their doing is sitting in my closet collecting dust. I was wondering if anyone knew of a website i can use to sell these items. I dont want to use Ebay so please dont say that. The help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!

I have some antique sort of things i am looking to sell, does anyone know....?
To tell you the truth I would clean them up and put them in a safe place! Is beautiful to have something from were you were a kid! Specially when your grandparents gave it to you! Or you can just put on search selling auctions and there should come some different out like ofcourse e-bay! Put you should find out first how much do it cost first from just searching!
Reply:send me the pic I will tell you how much it worth for:)

Is there some sort of disease where you obsess too much?

and no, i don't mean OCD.

it seems that the only thing i am good at is having OBSESSIONS. outrageous devoted obsessions.

all my life I can remember having at least one thing I obsessed over.

when i was in elementary school it was dogs. I knew every breed, had toy dogs, loved them, had 3 dog encyclopedias that i read like every week.

when i was in middle school i discovered a band called "good charlotte" and i became obsessed with them and billy martin. not just a normal teen crush. I knew his favorite color, his tattoos, i read everything i could about him and learned it. I bought magazines just for him and kept shoeboxes full of everything that mentioned his name.

I am over sentimental and nostalgic. If i read a book that i love, I will love it to tears. I will read it 15 times and cry every time. I will beg beg beg my friends to read it and pray pray pray that they are moved to the extent that i am by it. of course they aren't because i am outrageous, but it hurts me that -c-

Is there some sort of disease where you obsess too much?
Not really. It's just the search for identity based on the delusion that you are somehow separate from the universe. This acute feeling of separation creates the need to latch onto and hoard/collect things so as to feel more secure in the sense of belonging that this brings.

The problem is that this is not a path to fullfillment, but like all obsessions, it only feeds into a void that can never be filled.

Once you realize (in your heart not merely as an intellectual idea) that you are connected to all things in subtle yet significant ways, you will not have the need to act obsessively.

All the best to you in your journey.
Reply:"Obsession" IS the term - I don't think it would be considered a disease, but if it's interfering with living a normal life, I'm sure a qualified mental health professional can offer relief, either through talking or medication.
Reply:No,I don't think you have a disease, you just need balance everyone and living organism need BALANCE. If you put that kind of energy into God and Yourself, you will be unstoppable!!!

All the things you mentioned you obsessed over is material faise driven things out side of your dogs!!! Realize PUT YOUR obsessive energy into yourself only, you will benefit greatly if you do this.

Therapy never hurts, It helps us to understand ourselves more, realize where we are in life and where we are heading.
Reply:I'm not sure how old you are but I used to be this way when I was a teenager. I would obsess over people I knew. I was basically a stalker but don't tell anyone. There was this one particular guy and he was kinda married but I wasn't obsessed in a sexual way, weird I know. I couldn't help it, I just HAD to be around him, and know where he was. But I grew out of that when I hit about 19 and ever since then I've yet to obsessed over anything. If you're young maybe you'll be in my boat and grow out of it. If you're not... sorry to have you to read all this.
Reply:Read about obssessive/compulsive disorder. There is treatment for it, it's not easy, and it's long term. You're young and learning how to treat and control your OCD would benefit you for the rest of your life, and, trust me on this, your friends and family will thank you hugely for getting treatment!
Reply:I think the problem is not in 'obsessions', it's in your over sensibility. Actually, I wouldn't call it a problem at all. The fact that your 'obsessions' change means nothing more than a developing character or it reflects changes of your life.

For example, as a child you loved dogs. Well, most kids love animals and dream of them and keep bringing them home, beg parents to buy one... or two... It was a normal occurence and only because you are so sensible, it turned out to be obsession for you. Such will come and go and probably each time you'll think that this is the most important thing in your life and then it'll change. As I said, I can't see the problm here.

However, you will suffer in your life as most people are calmer and less sensible. That's why they don't understand how you can cry reading a book. Pity, you can't change that. I am too unsensible and no matter what happens I'm not disturbed by it (although, maybe I should be). You can't change yourself. The only thing you could do is try to react less intensively, not to show people all your emotions. So you'll be sheltered from their misunderstanting and criticism.
Reply:It seems you are just a very passionate person. Try to take your obsessions and put them to something good. You are the kind of person who can change the world, if you are passionate about the right things.

What does it mean when a guy your sort of dating tells you this?

I met this guy through a friend, we're both recently out of broken engagements w/ or ex's. After our first date we hit it off instantaneously, there was such a connection, and it wasn't just our commground w/ the break ups, it was def. more b/c we both said %26amp; felt it, and u could just tell. At first I wasn't sure if i wanted to get involved w/ him b/c personally i was scared to start liking someone so much again so fast, and he knew that... but persisted. needless to say things got hot and heavy fast. He was a real gentleman, sweet heart, %26amp; constantly told me how much he liked me, enjoyed spending time w/ me.. etc. we saw each other almost every day for 3wks. now here's the kicker, many times he told me that he wished he would have met me in a year, b/c he knows he could love me, but just isn't ready for a serious relationship yet. i don't think i was either, but it felt so right. he says he still wants to see me, but has since dropped the ball. i just dont' know what to make of this

What does it mean when a guy your sort of dating tells you this?
Oh my goodness! I can understand all the insecurity involved with this question. You are insecure in the fact that you think that you need a man to complete you. He has been hurt and either is afraid to commit again or is out to get all women for revenge. Both of you jumped from the frying pan into the fire and in the fire you will get burned! Why not take time to get to know YOURSELF before you try to get to know another boy. If you want to just have sex with him then fine do that but don't get so wrapped up in him that you loose yourself one more time. If you look over your past you probably have not been without a relationship for very long, so how are you going to know what you want if you don't take the time to see what you need? If he is truly the one for you he will be the one a week, month or a year from now, but if he is not then you will be waisting your time waiting on him.
Reply:You really "think" he'll be there???

You're trying to save face 'cuz you got U.S.E.D! Report It

Reply:Funny, I am in pretty much teh exact situation you are in. I dated a guy for about 3 months who had gotten out of a serious relationship a few months before and he told me he just thought we had gotten too serious too fast and that he didn't think he could be good for anyone right now. I'd like to have him back because we completely clicked right away, but I know that all I can do is wait and see. I know that rushing into something when someone is not over someone else just makes a relationship be doomed as a rebound relationship. The waiting is killing me, but it gets a little better as time goes on. I say that is what you should do to. If it was meant to be it will be. Good luck to you.
Reply:he was just looking for a rebound but then met you. Hes not ready for anything but a fling, give him some space.
Reply:He likes the chase. Especially if he's newly single, your were his "testing ground" to see if he still could chase and get a girl. Move on girl!!!
Reply:He might be a little scared. My bf was the same way, and 6 months before we started going out he had broken up with his fiance who he was with for 2 years. He kinda stopped all the nice stuff you talked about...I think he was scared of getting hurt again.

How does he know hes going to need a year? No one ever knows how long its going to take to get over something, if they even do.

If you two really like each other, and feel that this can turn into something serious, but are scared of it happening right away or too soon, just take things slower. If he can love you romantically then he can be in a relationship with you too, even if its not right away. If hes ready to fall in love, then he should be ready for a relationship.
Reply:Give him a little time, wait for him to call you or something. When he does call or when you talk to him next, tell him how you feel and be honest. If he really does care about you as much as he says he does then he will understand. You can't rush things but hold on to him if you know he's that special.
Reply:I love it! It's the perfect excuse to not buy the cow when you're getting the milk for free!

OK. He doesn't want a committment with you, but still wants to have a good time. If you're OK with him dating outside of you, continue to see him.
Reply:Can you say "instant booty"?

Hate to say it like that, sometimes a "gentleman" can be the worst of cads. I think he missed the initmacy/sex of being in a relationship and took advantage of the opportunity, obviously. I've never known a man to turn down available...you can finish that one.
Reply:i suppose that i would take him at his word - he doesn't sound ready. He seems like he is very attracted to you, and wants to be with someone, but still has to work through stuff. And, you could try to stay in touch occasionally, who knows what will happen?
Reply:I think this man loves you,but because of his recent breakup,he's doubting himself. He's scared, and you know men, they don't admit that.Give him time, you should both take the time to learn eveything about each other thats possible.Enjoy learning, and discovering who each of you are.Who knows, you both may learn something about yourself that you've never known.
Reply:All I can say is that break ups hurt alot. One take time to "grieve" you may need to see yourself in a different light. DOnt get all wrapped up in nit. If it is mean to be he will come around but be his friend and spend time on your own finding a hobby or maybe pampering yourself!
Reply:It means after ya'll had sex and he conquered you, he is losing interest and wants to do more women.

women use sex to get love and men use love to get sex.

Maybe a year from now he will settle down. People on the rebound typically fall fast, and then snap out of it and date. Just take it slow. If he really cares about you he will figure out that he wants to be with you no matter how many other people he "dates". Hopefully ya'll were safe, because how it was for ya'll will be how it is for the others he will get with.
Reply:confusion leads u to chaos
Reply:i dont either
Reply:I couldn't make it through your whole question, maybe whatever the problem is relates to your....hmmm.....well long questions.
Reply:Why are women so stupid on this subject----- ?? I guess it's good because it helps us guys get in your panties!!!!! Thanks -- here you go --

He was sooooo sweet --- and told you what you wanted to hear to get in your PANTIES ---- now that he has hit it --- it is old news --- however, he does not what to completely let you go-- hence the "I still want to see you" line --- this is because he wants a booty call at times -----

GOT IT? ?
Reply:it means he isnt gonna love you anytime soon because he loves and cares for someone else still...thats why he said he wished he met you later....

What is a fun, interactive thing to do in New York City on a second date?

While I would love to take a walk, go to a concert or a museum, I'm looking for some sort of establishment in N.Y.C. in which I can have a good time with my female date. I'm a guy. I'm thinking of something along the lines of Dave and Buster's, but I was wondering if there were any other types of things like that in the city.

Thanks.

What is a fun, interactive thing to do in New York City on a second date?
Because you mention Dave and Buster's, I'm assuming you know the Times Square area somewhat. Here's my suggestion, for a second date:

First, go to Madame Tussaud's was museum. I know, it's a little cheesily touristy, but it's great for a date. It gives you a chance to interact and laugh (with? at?) each other while you pose with all the wax celebrities. It's loads of fun.

Afterwards, you could have dinner at Dave and Busters, as you suggest.

And if you're still up for activity, there's an enormous movie megaplex at 42nd Street and Broadway, so you could take in a film!

I went on a second (or third? I can't remember which) date like this recently, and it was a great time.

Have fun! And good luck with your new girlfriend!

There is a really nice show coming to Radio City for Chinese New Year, starting end of January for about 10 days / call Ticket Master....you can't interact with the performers onstage, but after the show there are things to do in that neighborhood: you could go up to 42 Central Park South, right east of Sixth Avenue to Mickey Mantle's for dinner, overlooking the south end of Central Park ....

Reply:Whatever you do, if you want a third date with this girl, don't take her to Times Square. Every New Yorker knows not to go there unless they've got tickets to Mary Poppins, they've got a yen for Yoshinoya chicken rice bowl, or they suddenly want to get themselves a Hello Kitty pillow from the Sanrio store.

Depending on what you like to do, you could take her to the Freakatorium (I think it's on Rivington Street) (it's small, though); go to Battery City Park and walk along the river; or go up the Cloisters in Inwood (it's a hike and a half on the train, though) and walk around there. But the Brooklyn idea is the best. Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge, and if you stay to the right on the walking path, cut through the park, walk straight toward the river, and you'll hit the promenade. It has the best view of the city. Go all the way to the right on the promenade, you'll hit the Brooklyn Ice Cream factory and a little area where you can sit and watch the skyline. I used to live on Montague Street and it was on of the best parts of living there.

Have fun!
Reply:Stay away from Times Square--if someone took me on a date there I wouldn't be impressed.

If I were you I'd go ice skating somewhere non-touristy like Chelsea Piers. You could also head over to Brooklyn (walk over the bridge) and get something to eat on Montague or Smith Street.

Vitamin C indicator solutions?

For my science project I need to see which form of Orange juice obtains the largest amount of vitamin C.

What is a vitamin C indicator solution?

Where can I get it?

How do I use it?

Is there a (color)chart of some sort that can possibly tell me how much vitamin C is in each form of O.J.?

Vitamin C indicator solutions?
Dichlorphenolindophenol

DCPIP is commonly used as an indicator for Vitamin C. If vitamin C, which is a good reducing agent is present , the blue dye, which turns pink in acid conditions and is reduced to a colourless compound by ascorbic acid.

DCPIP (blue) + H+ ----------%26gt; DCPIPH (pink)

DCPIPH (pink) + VitC ----------%26gt; DCPIPH2 (colourless)

C6H8O6 + C12H7NCl2O2 ----------%26gt; C6H6O6 + C12H9NCl2O2

In a titration, when all the ascorbic acid in the solution has been used up, there will not be any electrons available to reduce the DCPIPH and the solution will remain pink due to the DCPIPH. The end point is a pink colour that persists for 10 seconds or more.
Reply:i am doing the same science project this year the vitamin c indicator solution recipe can be found on http://www.accessexcellence.org/AE/ATG/d...

once u have made it, u will take 15 mL (per test) and then, using a pipette (liquid eyedropper), drop the orange juice being tested and record the amt. of drops used to turn the indicator clear. the directions to the experiment can be found

Why am I such a slob?

I've just cooked lunch, and made a total sh1t-pit out of the kitchen.

Bread crumbs everywhere. Spilt the coffee jar. Washed a plate and soaked the entire counter top...even managed to spill a little sugar when making my brew.

And then onion wrappings missed the bloody bin.

Not my day?

Well, the misses would freak if she saw this when she got it. But I can't understand why I'm a slob, and she is so clean in there? I can cook too, so its not as if I'm never in there....

It even threatens to interrtupt yahooo answers whilst I sort the c*nt out....

Anyone else the same?

Why am I such a slob?
My husband is! You can follow him by his trail. Starts at the front door, shoes, newspapers, laptop, jacket inside out, tie on back of chair, keys anywhere.

He just has to make a sandwich and a cup of coffee and the kitchen looks as if a bomb has exploded.

I blame his mother who was so fussy her house was like a mausoleum. She would tidy behind him, polish his shoes, tuck a clean handkerchief in his pocket every morning and force him to comb his hair with Brylcream when he was a lad. When he started driving, she cleaned the car and polished the bumpers. Now his car is an ambulating paper bin...

I think that it is a reaction against his upbringing. He was revolting.... or should it be He is....
Reply:yep most people are messy in the kitchen when my husbands cooking it looks like a clown has been in there he uses every implement . the tip is to clean as you go like you did when you cooked at school simple stops rows break ups could even solve world piece ;-)

Reply:Its natural 4 a guy to be a slob!!!!!!!!!lol...jks
Reply:I know what you mean, it can be very frustrating as you end up spending loads of time clearing up. Well we have a tiny little kitchen so I am forced to 'tidy as i go' otherwise there is no space on the work top to continue cooking unless i clear it first. I think it is hereditary as my mum always used to get in a mess in the kitchen, and me and my brothers are the same!
Reply:You need to be better organized. Clean as you go. I always fill the kitchen sink with warm soapy water before I begin. Then keep the peelings and scrap off the counter immediately and into the garbage. Put cooking tools into the water as you use them. Wipe the counters with a kitchen wash cloth as you go. It is more fun, safer for you, and in the end you won't have a big mess to clean up.
Reply:You are of the male species, its perfectly normal!
Reply:It's hereditary!
Reply:You are a slob because you tend to throw basted the oninon wrappings rather than going to the dustbin and throwing it in there.

You have bread crumbs everywhere because you dont cut the bread over the sink or a plate.

Spilt the coffee jar because you didnt hold on to it well.

its all a matter of physics, so do a good job or quit the kitchen :)

Good Luck
Reply:Am I glad it is not my kitchen !
Reply:Your wife is too good for you.... Don't think she won't realize this someday.
Reply:genetics...probably since you know you are sloppy and still don't correct it you are genetically programmed to be a slob
Reply:You got to have finesse, men seem to be rambunctious and always in a hurry, not to mention they have large hands, but I have those days where all I am doing is making a mess, it could be just the day for you….lol… no worry’s everyone goes through it. Its just aggravating to say the least.
Reply:CALM DOWN, If you expect to make a mess then you will. Give yourself more time when your in the kitchen, and have a bowl of hot soapy water in the sink to clean up as you go.

Moraine deposits left when a glacier melts will generally be.....?

A)sorted by size and layered

B)unsorted by size and layered

C)sorted by size and unlayered

D)unsorted by size and unlayered

Moraine deposits left when a glacier melts will generally be.....?
Well, think about it for a second. Moraine deposits are basically just the stuff dumped out of the ice. It isn't moved after it falls out of the ice. Therefore sorting by size is not to be expected (although I suppose some size sorting on the flanks may occur due to gravity separation as the mounds settle).

Would layering be expected? Why does layering occur? The absence of large changes in the way the sediment accumulates and absence of sorting processes would make any fine bedding very unlikely. I suppose a grosser "bedding" could occur, but generally this would not be expected either.

Generally, moraine deposits are similar to what happens when one takes a dumptruck full of dirt and empties it in a spot. You wouldn't expect much layering or bedding. Even dumping a bunch of truckloads of dirt doesn't result in any real bedding, although with careful excavation you might be able to identify separate truck loads if you are lucky.

How do you synthesize a polymer?

I need to synthesize a polymer with a melting point somewhere around 20-25 C. It would need to have all the same sort of things people-friendly chemicals need (non-carcinogenic, preferably flame-resistant, if possible, etc.) Any help on this would be most appreciated, along with any on how one would go about making this polymer.

How do you synthesize a polymer?
analize an existing polymer with as many properties of the ones you are looking for, determine the formula ( possibly use a mass spectrometer for the recipe,) experiment with the atomic structure of the elements in the formula. wouldn't it be great if you could manipulate the structure at subatomic level, i.e. at levels below protons and neutrons like quarks.

try changing the formula ( recipe?) at its basic level, with different proportions of at least carbon and hydrogen, possibly adding 'alloying' elements into the atomic structure.

Write a C program to calculate and display the sum of the 2 largest nos in an array of 10 nos?
I will not write the code for you here, but its a simple thing to do.

The program is all about sorting, and as the array is pretty small, you can put almost any algorithm to work. The simpler the better.

Summing up the numbers is the last thing.

Window A/C units too noisy!?

I have 2 window A/C units that are old and very noisy. Everytime you tap them, the noise changes. I guess I need to make some sort of insulating frame for them so as not to vibrate off the window frames. But I'm sure they will still make other noises. Anybody have any tips on how to make them run quieter at night?

Window A/C units too noisy!?
Make the AC fitting tight by giving packing in the sides. If the budget permits get it overhauled. When the temperature difference outside inside is more AC has to do more work, Give rest.
Reply:Either get a new A/C large enough to handle the entire area or get central air (if it's your place). A new one will be less expensive to run. Sounds like yours have had their last days. You can probably find good prices on them since the summer is almost over.
Reply:There's a lot of possibilities. First, open them up and check for anything loose. Also check to see if either fan blade is wobbling or loose. Then check the motor mounts for the fans, and the compressor mounts. (While you have the unit opened, you should go ahead and clean both coils for better efficiency.) If all that fails to provide a solution, or at least the problem, then you may be better off to replace them. The new units are not only quieter, they're also more efficient.
Reply:over time the chassis inside the a/c itself actually starts loosening up , thats why when you tap on it the noise changes slightly.....because you jar the internal frame and it makes another section vibrate

theres not much you can do other then take it out of the window unplug it and take the outer cover off and see if there are any screws that you can tighten ,and see if the fan motor is a little loose , if not your pretty much out of luck

B.
Reply:Check all of the screws around the casing. Make sure everything is tight. It sounds like something is rattling. If that doesn't work you may need to check the fans inside the unit. It's not the compressor if tapping on it makes them quiet.
Reply:I'm in agreement with Barbra.

A/C are on sale in August. But hurry, they will be putting them away in September.
Reply:Turn it off

it is super quiet .

Disconnected after c-section...i felt a little bit strange after my csection?

sort of like is this really my child? that feeling has since past but im pregnant again and suspect i'll undergo another c-section. I was just wondering if i should push my doctor for a vbac...thanks.

Disconnected after c-section...i felt a little bit strange after my csection?
I would push for a VBAC.

Easier recovery and with a toddler on your hands you need as much energy as you can muster after childbirth!

I had an emergency caesarean and was being pushed towards another by a doctor that I saw, however I did some of my own research and found that a VBAC is safer all around, both for baby and mother.

My first labour I had every drug offered to me and ended up with a c-section. Second baby I went all natural; no drugs and had a vaginal birth. I believe that if you're physically and mentally ready go for a VBAC.

If that doesn't end up being a viable option, ask them to put baby to your chest ASAP after being taken out of your body, so you have that chance to connect with your baby.

Good luck!!
Reply:It is a form of deppresion called postpartum depression....You will be fine my mom had two kids and went through it both time....You will be able to get through this if it worses you may want to talk with your doctor..
Reply:wouldnt hurt
Reply:dont feel that way
Reply:I felt that same strange feeling after my VBAC. If you want to try a VBAC, try one. If your doc can't give you a good reason that he/she doesn't want to try one, find another doc. Get one that is comfortable with VBACs. Just be prepared for it not to work. If may go great, perfect. It may not. If it doesn't, make sure you remember that your goal is a healthy baby, no matter how it comes. It's easy to be disappointed if it doesn't work the way you want. Keep your eye on the prize.
Reply:Ive had 5 naturals and one Cesar and to me it doesn't matter if you have a belly birth or not as long as the bub gets hear safely good luck
Reply:poor thing, i know how c-sections are i had one just over 2 weeks ago with my twins. u can try and get a vbac if u want but if the doctor believes its bets to do another c-section then its probably better not to compromise ur babies safety(if hes just saying it because its easier or he doesn't know how or something then change doctors NOW) but if there was a medical reason for ur csection and it is still there(epilepsy/diabetes/etc) or it arises again(high blood pressure/baby under stress/low birth weight/large birth weight) then it may be best to do a csection again. i was scared of having the feelings u did so i asked to be put on anesthetic but not so much that it was painless, i wanted the pain as i thought it would help me establish the naturalness of childbirth and the pain that's meant to come with it. i got my pain and i dont have the feelings u have(i did the 1st day becuz i wasn't ready for the girls becuz they werent meant to be born for another 16 or so weeks!)

good luck and congrats on ur pregnancy and ur baby/toddler!!

C++ finding limits of a sorted array?

How would you go about finding the highest and lowest scores in an array that is already sorted? I know how to find the highest and lowest scores when it is not sorted, but if it is sorted there must be a simpler way to find the limits besides searching the entire array. Here is the problem:

"findlimits() which will find the highest SAT score and the lowest SAT score and return both to the main program using reference parameters. Note that this is extremely easy once the score array has been sorted. The findlimits() function receives four parameters, the array scores, the number of values in the array n, and reference parameters max and min. After returning to main, main should print the high and low scores together with messages."

Why is it easy once the array is sorted, that means it must be a simple way. And how would I do that???

C++ finding limits of a sorted array?
I might be overlooking something, but if you know the array is of length n, and it is sorted in ascending order, then

int min = array[0];

int max = array[n-1];
Reply:There are 2 ways to go about it. One way is to use the min %26amp; max variables to store the highest %26amp; lowest values during the sorting routine.

(This is the best way.)

Another way is to store the 1st byte and the last byte from the array from outside or within the sorting routine. You need to know the length of the array though.

What is the point of the letter "C"?

I mean, come on people! I don't get it. The letter c makes the s and k sound, so what's the point of it? Maybe at one point in time it made its own original sound and people began using slang and stopped using the original sound...sort of like the word ginormous! Who the hell thought of the idea of putting THAT in the dictionary?!?!?! Come on! This is freaking ridiculous! Who else agrees?!

Web browser with c#?

I've been trying to develope a sort of web browsar with c#, visual studio 2005.

And my default browser is IE.

Now the problem is when I go to a webpage with a link that is supposed to open in a new window, when I click on it it opens IE and goes to that address.

is there anyway I can fix this?

Basically it's supposed to open a new windows of the same application and goes to the link.

is there anyway I can control the links inside the document of the web browser component of Visual Studio so I can send the address to the new window and do the job?

Web browser with c#?
If your using the Web Browser component... then you are just using Internet Explorer anyways. You're not coding a web browser at all, you're just putting their IE (version and settings) on a form.

I know it's not exactly what you're looking for, but try coding a browser from scratch. HTTP is really not that difficult, it's actually kindof interesting how it works. Making your own browser would be much more rewarding.

Sorting data from file using bubble sort?

I'm trying to read in data from a file, run bubble sort on it and store the results in a file using C++...how would i do that. I understand bubble sort and I've used it before. Using it to sort to data from a file is the hard part, any help would be appreciated...

Sorting data from file using bubble sort?
by using iosteam and vector headerfiles/library

, u could do very easily.. :p

just read the input file and for every value you reads,

add that to a declared variable vector

( vector is same as an array but simpler).

and when you finished reading the input file,

apply your bubble sort algo to the vector.

(you could also look on the STL for sorting, i guess it

is in the "functional.h")..

after the vector is sorted, just save it and it is done.. :p

hope that helps even though there is

no codes i've presented for you..

i did that in purpose so that it is

you who will actually code

the program for ur problem.. :)
Reply:So read all the data from the file into an array first.

I've recently formatted the pc and I found the the DVD-RW Drive is in the D drive . I just have one C drive

Formatting the PC, now I faced with a message which says that the PC need a compatative DVD decoder. I haven't had such a problem before formatting and strangely, the dvd drive in on the D drive which I formatted the pc and now have just C drive.

could any body help me to sort this problem out and it is possible to active the dvd drive without another formatting ?

Tnx

I've recently formatted the pc and I found the the DVD-RW Drive is in the D drive . I just have one C drive
you reformatted and deleted the driver for your dvd

you will have to download a new one

the pc doesnt see the d drive
Reply:if you wish to change the drive letter of your dvd drive then you can use disk manager (start run type compmgmt.msc click on disk manager)

you will require some form of dvd playback software... powerdvd ect...

you can check if KLite Codec Pack will do this for you free
Reply:I get the impression that before the format, your hard disk was partitioned leading to a Drive-C and Drive-D for the hard disk(s)..which would leave the CD drive as an "E".

Perhaps during/after the formatting, you were left with an unpartitioned hard disk, which would mean Drive-C for hard disk and Drive-D for CD drive.

Did you forget to opt for disk partitioning as you commenced the formatting?
Reply:hi moez

i like your question

your answer:it is because you have reformat it and you haven't create the partition in the hardisk you should make a partition in the hardisk

if you want the drive d or e you have to reformat it OK

after creating the partition you will automatically get the DVD-RW drive as e or f just insert the operating system disk and then reformat it at the bottom of the page you can see create partition = c press c it will give you the future instruction

OK my friend

I have a disorder called gynecomastia (male breasts). My breasts are now up to a C-cup. more below.?

For a while, I was a B-cup and did not wear a bra or any other kind of support. However, I have recently been told that I am a C-cup now. My breasts obviously weigh more now and seem to sag, for lack of better words. What I would like to know is should I use some sort of support garment such as a bra? I don't have health insurance and cannot afford breast reduction surgery. Please help!

I have a disorder called gynecomastia (male breasts). My breasts are now up to a C-cup. more below.?
There are compression garments for men with this condition. They are rather expensive though.

Here is a site that shows a few of the available garments: http://www.thesurgerystore.com/compressi...

You might try a woman's sport bra to see if that will help. Look for one with the largest percentage of lycra content...35% or more if you can find it. The lycra will offer compression without the cost of a specially made product.

Good luck.

In turbo c how can i make a program about conversion?
Conversion in Hexamdecimal

Decimal Printf("%d",%26amp;num)

HexaDecimal Printf("%0x",%26amp;num)

OCTAL - Printf("%o",%26amp;num)
Reply:You can use strcmp() to compare strings. It is a standard function. Then you could use the sorting algorithm of your choice. Try the selection or bubble sort to start.

Binary Sort?

What is the meaning of binary sort? How it works in C/C++?

Binary Sort?
Binary sort is an algorithm to sort values in a computer program. C/C++ is just a language you can use to implement the algorithm. Just google "C++ Binary Sort" and you'll come up with a ton of algorithms.

Is intellectual curiosity an endangered specie?

It seems that as a society, we are more and more geared towards informations that either a) reinforces our status or b) Has some sort of direct use to us or c) Are geared to winning points in an argument.

A lot of people don't seem to even understand questions that are rooted in pure curiosity and attempt to find the hidden meaning of them in terms of utility. Whatever happened with just wanting to know?

Is intellectual curiosity an endangered specie?
I've asked myself that question on several occasions, but any more, I just don't care. If people want to be stupid, worry about everything, and think about nothing, so be it.

As for me, I'm teaching myself electrical engineering, physics, and to a lesser extent (for now) high-end math. I don't plan to use any of this knowledge and understanding to go out and get a job and make money. I just want to learn and have fun with it, because it has fascinated me ever since I was very young.
Reply:It's sad, but "oh well" is it. If people don't want to change, they won't. All we can do is change ourselves and pray that others will follow. Report It

Reply:Everything is in mental shorthand. People are so anxious to put their observations into handy templates that they rarely give their minds freedom to be original.

Herd mentality puts most political and economic thought into previously labeled categories.

Look to children for unwrapped curiosity and to us older folk. After putting things in their "proper place" long enough, we sometimes look for new paradigms.
Reply:Good question! I want to know too!

When ever I was little there was a cookie that I loved that I got from E.C. Porters...(read on please)....?

.....but they don't make it anymore and I absolutely loved it! So I'll try and describe it and could you tell me what it is and how to make it if you know?

Ok, it was like a sandwhich....I think it was eminem cookies and between them was some sort of white rich and creamy (not just cool whip, it was thicker and creamier than that) spread and they put it on thick between the two cookies and the best I can remember they then rolled the sides in rainbow colored sprinkles. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? I can make the eminem cookies fine, but I haven't a clue about the white stuff in the middle. Thanks for your help!

My VW Polo gives knock (!?!) if I switch on the A/C when its idling.?

If the A/C is Off, the Engine runs cool. If the A/C is switched ON, I get some sort of knocking on the engine. If I press the gas pedal a little (just a little does), it runs smooth. I suspect idling to be adjusted (!?!) I need suggestions please.

My VW Polo gives knock (!?!) if I switch on the A/C when its idling.?
yea..adjust the idling a little bit.. my friends van had a similar problem. sometimes the engine would just stop running and needs to be started again when the ac is on.
Reply:I think it may be piston slap. It is caused by the piston rotating ever so slightly, side to side, on the connecting rod wrist pin when the AC adds a little extra effort for the engine to overcome. I am curious to see other answers like you are.

Calling all Estate Agents and anyone else in the know?

do you know if when applying for a rented property...

a) Are you credit scored

b) If So, what is the criterea

c) What sort of banking evidence is required

d) any other useful information on what i might expect

Calling all Estate Agents and anyone else in the know?
Yes, they do run a credit check on you. First, the details of your wages are checked to make sure that you can afford the property, they then run a credit check to see if your credit is good or not. If it comes back that you are a risk, then you will be asked to provide a guarantor, someone who promises to pay the rent if you don't. They also have to be credit checked, and also have to sign the tenancy agreement as well.

In terms of bank details, you just need to give your branch, sort code and account number, so they can set up a direct debit for the rent.

Assuming that you don't have any defaults of CCJ's you should be fine with the credit check, a couple of late payments shouldn't affect you.

You`ll usually be asked for 2 1/2 months rent up front as a deposit, which you`ll get back at the end of the tenancy if everything is in order when you leave.
Reply:Yes they run credit. each company will have different requirements including employment verification. Most will require that you have a checking account but they probably won't actually check the amount.

best of luck
Reply:A) Can be if landlord prepared to pay

B) Income, if you have credit cards and if they are paid off properly

C) Usually copies of 3 months statements

D) They will probably want employer references, copies of utility bills, proof of identity. Also they will want a deposit probably of 1.5 times monthly rent and first months rent in advance. You will also be expected to pay by standing order.
Reply:They’ll likely check your credit score, but not always. The desired criteria will vary by property.

The other big thing is your employment history. If you’re a job hopper, they may not want you because there’s no guarantee you’ll always be employed (able to pay). On that note, your income matters, and you will need to prove you make enough to pay for the unit.
Reply:a) Depends on the landlord and/or letting agent

b) Depends on the company doing the check

c) May ask your employer to confirm your salary and other employment details

d) If you don't pass the credit check they may ask for a guarantor, or 6 months rent in advance, or simply refuse your application.

What is the best way to get in shape for track?

I am a freshman in high school and need to get some sort of scholarship. I'm barely keeping a C average so academics is out. My only other option is sports.I would really like to do track this year for school, but I'm very out of shape. I love to run and my gym teacher and friends all think that I have the potentional. I have untill spring to train so any ideas would be helpfull!

What is the best way to get in shape for track?
Start getting better grades next semester. High school is a different pace than middle school so it takes a bit to adjust. My freshman year I got Ds and Cs and all that stuff but after that I did better and got into a college where people have 3.7 gpas and stuff.
Reply:run daily, dont eat 2 much food, nd eat healthy
Reply:some says dat eating pomelo would make u in shape. everyday morning, always jog for about 30 mins. eat a balanced diet, of course. stop eating chocolates or any food with high cholesterol. and, why don't you try going to gyms, it will kinda help you even for just a little.
Reply:I was a track kid, too. The best thing you can do now is to start jogging. If you are not currently a jogger, start out running a mile and a half, and work your way up to 2 1/2 miles by January. It can be done (I was an asthmatic and survived)! Do that 3 days a week. 3 times a week (you can overlap one of the days) run the stadium stairs at your school for 10 minutes (take them one at a time for half of it and two at a time for the rest), then hop up the stairs one by one on each foot for 2 minutes each, the do the same but skip a step (take them 2 at a time).

Every other day:

Also start doing push ups. Do as many as you can do once, give yourself a one minute break, then do as many as you can do again (if you can't do as many as you did the first time, keep taking short breaks until your meat it: Ex. Do 21 pushups, try it again and make it to 14, then you can only do 4 more, then 3 more, you got to 21 again).

Also start doing a large variety of crunches and sit ups (ask your gym teacher for suggestions). You should be in pretty good shape by mid-February.

Try lunges and squats without weight, too.

Also, start drinking your water (8+ cups per day), drop soda (even diet) and sweet tea, and make sure you have AT LEAST 5 fruits and veggies/day (10 is recommended).
Reply:well, do what you would in track...run!

you can get together some friends and have Fitness Days at the local gym every other day, varying what you do each time. but have a set schedule, like Tuesdays are your running days, Thursdays are your stations (which is when 1 or 2 ppl work on abs when the others do different things like legs or lunges), and Saturday you can have a Free Day to play a game of soccer or something which is fun and healthy!

this will help your body stay in shape and become used to all the heavy running and working out, and if you keep it up until track, you'll be fine!

thank you cards

Can somebody please give me a really simple a)b)c) as to how to go about buying a property?

I'm totally naive on this sort of thing. I need it spelled out really simply and clearly.

Thanks

Can somebody please give me a really simple a)b)c) as to how to go about buying a property?
1. Contact a mortgage company and ask them what amount you would qualify for to purchase a home. They will give you a ball park figure.

2. Decide what you want. Do you want a house with a yard and the good and bad things that go with it? Things such as space of your own, maintenance and freedom to plant what you please. Do you want a condominium where you have no outside ownership maintenance or freedom?

3. What size house do you want? A normal standard which is probably the best bet for future resale is a 3 bedroom 2 bath. Anything smaller is a hard sale.

4. Where do you want to live in relation to your work? If you work in a large city, the closer to your work you live, the higher the property will be. That is why you see so many bedroom communities, suburbs around cities. The further out you live, the cheaper the property will be, but also the longer the commute time will be. You can figure your commute time at roughly 30 miles per hour.

5. Ask some of your co-workers where they live. How long does it take them to commute. What are the advantages about the area they live in. What are the disadvantages. For instance an area adjacent to an airport is not too pleasant.

6. At this point you should know approximately how much you can afford. You should know what type of dwelling you want. You should know what size you want. You should know about how long you are willing to commute which will tell you about how far you are willing to live from work. You should have a couple of areas in mind that sound good from co-workers.

7. At this point make an appointment with a real estate agent. Tell him what you want, the approximate price you are willing to spend and the approximate location. Remember, he is working for you! If he persists in telling you to get something you don't want, thank him for his time and get another realtor. Use a realtor you are comfortable with and one that listens to what you want. You are the customer.

8. Give the realtor a day or two to narrow the search down to a few places that might be what you are looking for. Have him give you a picture and description up front. You may be able to narrow the search down some just by looking at the pictures.

9. Take a ride with the realtor to look at the houses. Make a note of what you like and dislike about each house. You may have to look at several homes before you find one you like.

You may even have to finally just decide to settle on the one you dislike the least.

10. The asking price is not usually the selling price. Offer about 8% less than the seller is asking. He has the option of accepting or rejecting your offer. The longer the house has been on the market the more likely he is to take it.

11. Ensure that the contract provides for your having the house inspected prior to the sale and any discrepancies to be corrected by the seller unless you and the seller reach an agreement otherwise. You also want to get buyers insurance which is paid for by the seller and covers the appliances etc. for 6 months or a year.

12. Closing cost is another item you may want the seller to either pay or split with you. Closing costs vary from state to state but are usually about 6% of the purchase price.

13. In a nutshell, the more of the costs associated with any repairs or replacements the house needs that you can get the seller to pay for and the lower selling price of the house the better off you are.

14. Once you purchase the house you should go to the county court house and file a homestead exemption. This will lower your taxes considerably. They will mention this to you at closing, but by the time you have signed 10,000 pieces of paper you probably won't remember it and just want to get out of there.
Reply:Ok firstly do you have mortgage finance in place?

If not go to an independant mortgage broker and see how much you can borrow. Get an offer in principle.

View houses that are in your price range. You will generally need at least a 5% deposit in cash, but the mortgage broker will advise you on this.

If you find a house you like, make an offer through the estate agents. When this is accepted find a solicitor.

The solicitor will then tell you what to do from thereon.
Reply:Hi there,

You should always make sure that you can get a mortgage before looking for a house. Go to see a mortgage advisor, tell him how much you earn and how much deposit you have. He/ she should be able to tell you roughly how much you can borrow.

When you have established that, he will need to get a decision in principal from the lender for you. When you have been accepted, that is the time to start looking for the right property.

If you find a house you want, let your mortgage advisor know. You will have to pay a valuation fee to make sure the house is a good risk for the bank.

Some costs to consider:

Valuation fee = £300 ish

Solicitors = £500 -£700

Broker fee = £500 ish

Arrangement fee = £400 - £1000

Speak to your mortgage advisor, some deals have the above for free.

Good luck
Reply:I have to agree with everyone who answered ahead of me. I should do it that way it would make life much easier!I've been investing for a while and I'm a shocker. Cause I seem to always do it the other way around. Because I LOVE property I am always looking for it. When you know what you're looking for good deals seem to always pop up. So I find that I am constantly putting offers in and when we agree on a price I find the finance. I have a great mortgage broker though who accomodates me being very spontaneous. Good luck Property rocks!!!!!
Reply:#1 - Select Realtor

#2 - Apply for Mortgage Loan

#3 - View Homes with Realtor

#4 - Make an Offer on a home

#5 - Close and move in.

How's that?
Reply:Very simply

A = Adviser, see a qualified financial adviser and find out what you can afford. This shouldn't cost you a penny

B = Buying, go to your desired area and see some estate agents, they won't bite. Talk to them about the area and properties in your budget and just over, remeber vendors may take offers. Stay in touch with agents to let them know you are looking, this way they will contact you with suitable options.

C = Conveyancing. You know your budget, You found a property, made an offer, its being accepted. Now you need a solicitor to do the paperwork. Try to get a reccommedation from a friend. The solicitor does not have to be in the immediate area so shop around if you like.

I am a qualified mortgage consultant, please feel free to contact me if you want advice on financing your purchase.

Good luck.
