Friend to perform wedding ceremony in D.C?

He doesn't live in D.C. I took a look at http://www.themonastery.org/?destination... but does DC have any restrictions on this sort of thing? I don't quite understand the legal language. It says for DC... " For the purpose of preserving the evidence of marriages in the District of Columbia, every minister of any religious society approved or ordained according to the ceremonies of his religious society, whether his residence is in the District of Columbia or elsewhere in the United States or the territories, may be authorized by any judge of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia to celebrate marriages in the District of Columbia. " Thanks in advance.

I would call the Super Court of DC-they will have the most definitive answer for you.
Reply:All this means is that he has to prove (show) that he is certified/ordained in his religious practices to the superior court and they will issue him a verification or certification or something to that effect that will allow him to officiate your wedding. This shouldn't cost anything and shouldn't take very long. call the clerks office first and they will tell you where you need to go from there. I hope this helps you out. Good Luck!
Reply:That means that any ordained minister whether they live in DC or not can perform the ceremony. In Ohio a minister also has to be licensed by the State.

They may also have to register with the County Clerk or get an okey-dokey from the presiding judge of that county's Probate Court. You or they need to check.
Reply:It means that he has to apply to the Superior Court of DC to be qualified to perform a marriage ceremony in DC. Oherwise, it won't be legal.
