I do not want any "My Backup" folders or anything of the sort. No, I do not have the origional C.D and can't even remember if it came with a C.D
Why do I want to do this? - Many files and programs I have will not allow me to delete them and I would rather start from scratch than "fix" my computer.
How can I restore my XP Computer to factory settings?
Your best bet would be to wipe your HDD clean....In other words format....This will delete everything obviously, however you said that you couldn't find your xp cd ? I recommend that you get a hold of one because once your format there will be no file system on your Hard Drive, you'll have to reinstall Windows etc...
This may seem long but trust me it will get rid of all of your problems and allow you to start from scratch ! Fresh and Clean ! The only downside is, you'll have to reinstall all of your programs games etc. Before you undertake this task try and backup any data that might be of any importance to you.
Good Luck !
Reply:have try to get your xp systme restore ? that might be can help you to fix it to the past time when ur computer still normally to use.
the system restore is in the start menu program file and accessories.
sorry if i do wrong :D cause am still newbe too ;)
Reply:Some Newer computers set a partitioned section aside for your Original setup. When you boot UP watch the screen close it Could have clues like F6 to restore system Or some other hot key setup.
Reply:Forget System Restore. Forget the F8 key. If your system came pre-installed with XP then do the following. Reboot the computer and as it is rebooting look at the top Right of the screen where you will see an F Key.The Key will be one of the following. F9, F10, F11 or F12.Take note of the Key. Reboot your computer again but, this time before it Fully Reboots PRESS the F Key you took note of. You will hear a high pitched sound. This is normal. Follow the on screen instructions. Do NOT sign up for an Internet Service Provider as you already have one. If the method outlined does not work then repeat the procedure with ONE change. When you PRESS the KEY you took note of also PRESS CTRL with it which means you will be PRESSING the F KEY and CTRL TOGETHER. There is NO other change
Reply:I don't think there's any magic button that will do that for you. You have to reinstall Windows.
Reply:You will have to buy a NEW Windows XP CD with registration number. Too, you should see if you still have your motherboard Installation CD. Make sure that you have all your software
and printer CD before you start.
Motherboard CD
Modem Installation CD
Network card install CD if you have a network card.
Audio Card install CD
Graphic card CD
Printer CD
Anti virus and Firewall.
All other software that you purchase or use.

To place Active@ KillDisk Pro onto a floppy disk type the following at the command prompt:
COPY G:\KILLDISK.EXE A:
COPY G:\DOS4GW.EXE A:
The above assumes that the G:\ drive is the bootable CD-ROM drive and the A:\ drive is the floppy disk drive.

Reply:You should have a System Recovery option in your bootup menu which you can access via tapping F8 immediately when you start your computer. Then you can select it and follow the instructions to reinstall Windows. You will lose any personal files that you have generated so you should copy those to CD's if you want to save them.
