D&C or a pill?

My doctor gave me the option of getting D%26amp;C or taking some sort of pill..Have any of you been offered a pill instead of a D%26amp;C? and what is a D%26amp;C like? how long does it take?

I've had a D%26amp;C and I've also had a MC and just let it ride itself out w/o any assistance on advise from my Dr. telling me that my body would take care of itself and eventually did. However when i did just "let it ride" it took a few weeks for it to happen and that was a sad depressing time for me. Something not many people really understand...that you still have your baby inside you but there is no life to them. That said I had a D%26amp;C because they thought it could have been a molar pregnancy. I had the procedure it was quick painless and the recovery time physcialy was none...they gave me pain meds. I never even filled the Rx. So no problems there for me. I know that you can get a pill it's called misoprostol and it just kinda speeds up the MC all together. I know it can cause some mild cramping and that it's about 85% effective in doing it's job. So really it's up to you if you don't want surgery do the pill if you don't have a real medical need for wither of them maybe talk to your dr. about just "letting it ride" if your comfortable with that.
