After c-section, has anyone experienced irregular periods?

After c-section, has anyone experienced irregular periods?

I had my first child almost 5 months ago,an emergency c-section, and since then I have experienced irregular menstrual cycles.I get 2-3 a month, and I have been on birth control for 3 months now and am not breastfeeding.I read that it is normal to have some sort of bleeding but they said being on birth control should help. Also now every time I am getting ready to start my entire stomach region aches.I'm exhausted, I know partly because I have a 5 month old but unusually tired, lacking any kind of motivation, do u think this could be from my never ending periods?Has anyone else experienced this?My doctor doesn't seem to be any help.

You need to see a doctor about this. You are probably anemic from all the bleeding. I had a c-section and I did not have this problem, but I breast fed and did not have my period for a long time. My friend had a c-section 4 mos ago and did not breast feed. She is having her period now and is not having the problem that you are having. With that much bleeding, you had better see a doctor to be sure that there is nothing wrong.
Reply:I did not have a c section i delivered naturally but i experienced this too, everything word for word......i tried several birth control pills it took 5 different types to find one that would control this as for the tiredness i take anti depression meds.....i still have pains a year and half after having my son.....it is wierd, the doc told me it could be(the pain in groin) caused by a number of things
Reply:I had an emergency C also. I did not have this problem; my period did not start for 9 months (thank you Jesus!).

I do, however, have endometriosis now, and possibly fibroids, and experience the wacked out period cycles/lengths. I think you have a legitimate problem, but something tells me its a separate issue from the c-section. Perhaps it's hormonal, after all your body just went through an enormous ordeal and may not be back in order yet. I don't know.

I really recommend getting a second opinion from another doctor. I'm sure you have a great doctor, but if he's not helpful, it may ease your mind to either have a doctor confirm your Dr's opinion, or if not, determine the problem your Dr missed. Win/win, if you ask me.

The entire region of my scar is numb - the nerves are dead there - but other than that (and gas for 2 weeks), I had no side effects or lingering pain from it. I wish you the best of luck, and most of all, a quick end to your discomfort. Congrats on your new baby!
