My c drive is full and my d drive is empty,why?

On my PC it tells me that my C Drive is Full and running really low on memory yet my D drive has 40gb of free space,why is this and how do I sort this as in letting my D drive come into play?? PS,,I have uninstalled items I no longer use...Confused...

My c drive is full and my d drive is empty,why?
Well C and D are 2 different drives. Usually programs will download and install on drive C: by default.

You can send files from C: to D
Reply:It looks like you have the OS installed on the C drive which makes the C drive the main drive, all the software you install, my documents, everything is in the C drive. Therefore you have to manually move things like your documents or music into the D drive to save space on C.

You can change this by installing your OS on the D Drive but I dont see any point as then your D drive would be full and you would need to move things to the C Drive.

Hope this helped.
Reply:You have to manually put stuff onto the D drive, when programs are installed, and default save paths (including my documents) will be on your C drive (the drive that the OS is installed on)

Try moving your 'my music' or 'my pictures' folder to your d drive (just remember if you use your music, that your music player libraries may not know where the files have been moved to- re add them)
Reply:D may actually be your system restore partition.
Reply:Check to see what your D drive was made to be for. Most likely its a backup drive. Most new computers have the internal hard drive partitioned this way. u can put stuff on it if u really REALLY need to but i wouldn't recommend it. Buy a new hardrive u can buy around 750-1000 (a terrabyte) for about $200
Reply:Right click on [My Documents] then {properties}

in target folder location ,click on {move... } button then go to my computer and select or highlight drive D , and hit ok button
Reply:And my drive's got three cars on it.
Reply:When you save something or install something unless you specifically tell it to put it on the D drive it will automatically put it on the C drive by default.

If I download a program I save it first. When it asks me where do I want I want it, I tell it to put it on my D drive (as I have a second drive as a slave) and I install it from there. Works normally as the same as putting it on C.
Reply:thank god you asked this question, i ran into the same problem yesterday, you can copy all the info from one to another but then then you would have to erase them in the c drive and that will take a while if not every thing transfered and you have to do it one by one, and so far have found no way to combine them, so i think the best bet is from now on use you d drive unless you have to use your c drive.
