What should I wear to a summer funeral?

I just had a baby so I am between sizes and I need to get an appropriate outfit for a memorial service in a week or so. Pref I would like to wear a dress of some sort because I had a c section and my incision area is still sore.


The person who died was late 20's, and the death was sudden- if this makes a difference in the formality of the service. Also, the memorial service is to be held in a Zen garden, in the evening. The temp should at least be in the 80's


Do I need to wear black?


Do I need to wear close toed shoes?


Do I need to wear nylons?


Do my arms have to be covered?

WEAR A BLACK SUMMER DRESS WITH SANDALS AND A CROCHET SHAWL OR PONCHO. YOUR LITTLE GIRL CAN WEAR PRETTY MUCH ANYTHING
Reply:It really doesn't matter. Wearing black is not as common anymore. We rarely see that here.


Just a nice dress you feel comfortable in and shoes the same. In your situation, I would probably wear a nice pair of flat shoes, toes don't matter.


I have never heard you have to cover your arms, especially in summer and hot weather, too uncomfortable.


The same for your daughter, even nice pants, if the religion believes in women wearing pants.


Nobody would notice anyway, there will most likely be several people and they will be concentrating on the family.
Reply:If you're not going to wear black, at least try to wear a darker color, like a navy or brown. The shoes don't have to be closed toe, but should be more modest than hoochie looking. Nylons aren't the norm anymore and no to the arms if you are wearing something dark and appropiate.





As for your daughter, a dark dress would be nice with dark shoes. Try to avoid cutesy colors.

Reply:No wear what ever color you want including your daughter. If the Memorial is in a Zen garden they probably won't care about the traditional wear. Especially in 80 degree weather, so i wouldn't worry about sleeves or nylons. Go nice but comfortable.
