What to use to hide compressor in backyard?

Just moved into a townhouse, and the a/c compressor in the backyard sticks out. Before I start planting around it, what do people do to try to conceal them - should I try to use a screen of some sort? thanks

sometimes you notice those things more when you try to hide them. I suggest planting your garden away from it so as to distract the eye.
Reply:You might try some kind of lattice- But make sure to allow clearance for maintenance and so it can move.

Good luck!
Reply:they have fake "rocks" that you can buy to cover them. or you could build a mesh screen to go around it that your plants can grow on.
Reply:I have often used plant material to hide a compressor. Put a row of plants in and then offset a second row so there is access for the repair people. Overlap the two rows so you have an alley/walkway of sorts for access between them.
Reply:We recently purchased a home and our compressor is on the side, I planted three august beauty gardenia trees and two hydranges trees the get to be about four feet tall and about four feet wide, and produce the most beautiful white gardenias in the summer. I opted not to get the white fence or plactic fencing I figured flowers would be more beautiful.
Reply:If I used a screen, I'd plant some kind of vine next to it so the vine would climb the screen and cover it.

You might build a sort of stepped pyramid so you could put flower pots on the steps but air could flow easily between the steps.

Either way, I'd leave the side that is out of sight open to maximize ventilation and allow access for repairs.

Either of these could stand alone or have other plantings next to them so they look like part of a garden spot.
